Criminal Buddha

Recently I have become obsessed with true crime podcasts. I won’t bore you with the ins and outs of this but I did come across a particular episode that I thought many of you would be interested in.

The episode is from a podcast called Criminal which is usually an interview on various aspects of crime. They have featured interviews with dog handlers, ex cons, victims and other professionals and people that have been involved with crime in general.

The episode I want to draw your attention to is Episode 15: He’s neutral. It is about a couple who put up a Buddha statue in their neighbourhood and it transformed their community. Next time you have a spare 15 minutes give it a listen and let us know what you think in the comments below!

Podcast review: Druidcast

cover170x170

As one of our first reviews on Podcasts we start with the OBOD podcast called DruidCast.

DruidCast is hosted by Damh the Bard. It comes out monthly and features songs, interviews and talks recorded at festivals. I am sure that we will feature posts about DruidCast in the future and some of us may like to include favourite episode suggestions in the comment section below.

However, I would like to bring your attention to Episode 03.

DruidCast Episode 03 was recorded way back in 2007 and it features an interview with Pamela on Druidry in the Southern Hemisphere, where she talks about the naming and beginnings of The Grove of the Summer Stars. It’s worth listening to if you weren’t around the Grove back then to gain some insight into our history. If you were around in the beginning, I am sure it will be of interest to remember how far we have come.

Podcasts: What are they and how to use them?

A podcast is like radio show that you can listen to any time after it’s recorded and uploaded to the Internet.

There are many ways you can listen to a podcast.

If you have iTunes you can go to the podcast section and find the podcast you want to listen to, download it on to your computer or device (iPod, iPad, iPhone etc). You can also subscribe to podcasts so that the latest one downloads into iTunes when it gets up loaded.

Another way is to go to the podcast’s website. This will sometimes have additional notes about things mentioned in the podcast or have links to sites featured. On this page you can usually click on a link to listen to the podcast online. You can also right click and ‘save as’ like in the image below. This will download the podcast on to your computer so you can listen to it on your computers music player or put it on your mp3 player or a CD.

Blog podcasts

Podcasts can be great to listen to in the car, especially if your trip is half an hour to an hour long, the usual length of a podcast. But maybe check the description first, so you don’t find yourself doing a meditation mid-drive!

Now that you know about podcasts, go check out our reviews on some recommended podcasts in our Grove Media section.
